Yes. Summer is here. Cookouts, beach sunsets, festivals and block parties.
Sunny weather is definitely here. By the look at the temps and the calendar, the warmest of weather is upon us. As we move about for our usual summer activities, how can we stay cool AND fashionable?
Here are a few weather hacks to beat the heat while keeping your cool, while keeping things stylish.
Sunglasses. Not only a great fashion accessory, but wearing sunglasses can protect your eyes from the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays and damage, including cataracts.
Get Wrapped: The quickest way to add print and color to your wardrobe. Remember to use light fabrics. Headwraps serves two purposes this season: a protective style and keeps you cool.
Throw some shade: a great way avoid overheating and sunburn if you plan to be in direct sunlight all day. Keep your hats wide brimmed, light in color and in breathable materials (such as straw, etc.) for added protection.
Feeling retro? Opt out of hat hair and grab a parasol or stylish umbrella to bring the shade with you on your travels.
Get reacquainted with cotton. Air has a better chance to circulate with natural fabrics such as cotton, light linen or other natural fibers. Put away the heavy jerseys and knit fabrics for now.
Light colors: it’s no secret that whites, pastels and creme colors reflect the heat. All white is equally stylish to all black in colder months. Go for it!
SIDENOTE: Add flavor to your light color looks with a metallic, taupe or bright color accessories.
Got it? Flaunt it. The summer is a great time to show off your awesome shoulders, nice arms or legs you’ve been toning all winter. Embrace this seasons looks of shoulder less tops, strapless dresses and shorten those hems. Don’t forget the sunscreen!
Get Loose: Ditch the skinny jeans for those looser cuts such as wide leg or boyfriend fit denim. Grab more structured, boxy looks that hang away from the body to keep you cool and comfortable.
The winter months and that 4 letter ‘s’ word are behind us, for now, we’ve earned these warmer days. Get out and enjoy.
